The 2005 National High School Essay Contest on the UN
UNA/USA Wake County Chapter Contest

The Wake County Chapter of UNA/USA is sponsoring a local competition of the 2005 National High School Essay Contest on the UN.

This year's National High School Essay Contest on the United Nations asks students to write a letter to the President of the United States answering the following:

  • Why has there not been more global progress toward the Millennium Development Goals?
  • What should the U.S. do to help the international community achieve the Goals?
Additional resources, guidelines, entry forms and Student Application Kits are available on the UNA-USA website.

All high school students in Wake and surrounding counties are eligible to submit entries to the local UNA-USA Chapter (Wake County Chapter). The local chapter winner will be submitted to the National Contest and 10 finalists nationwide will be chosen to have their essays reviewed by a National Panel of Experts.

Wake County Awards:

  • 1st Place--$100.00
  • 2nd Place--$ 75.00
  • 3rd Place--$ 50.00

The 1st Place winner will be submitted to the National Contest

Essays must be submitted to the Wake County Chapter by Friday, January 7, 2005 with the National Essay Contest Student Application Form that can be found in the United Nations Association-USA website.
