EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

Presentations and Display of UN Materials at the NC Council for Social Studies (NCCSS) Conference in Greensboro each February:
About 1,200 Social Studies teachers from across NC attend – plus some from
adjoining states.
Both UNA/Wake County and UNA/West Triangle rent tables to
display UN and UNA materials and to distribute or take orders for these
materials, including elementary, intermediate and secondary Teacher's Kits
about the UN, Basic Facts About the UN, UN Charters; UN Hunger Maps; How the UN
Works poster sets.
Each Chapter also makes presentations covering the work of
the UN and the organizing and supporting of Model UN Clubs.
- Support of Model UN Programs at High School and University levels through financial support and through training for teachers
- Presentations about the UN and the Model UN program and the display of UN materials to school classes or international clubs in Wake County and environs
- Presentations on the UN and display of UN materials to non-school groups, such as the Encore group at NCSU, the
Cary Senior Center, the Kiwanis Club, and a group of seniors at Springmoor
- Display and distribution of UN materials at the International Festival in November
- Write about the UN or UN issues, e.g., Letters to the Editor of newspapers, letters to the Congress, the White House and the Department of State, and articles for organizations' newsletters
- Hold programs monthly (except July and August) on international issues
