By accepting the challenge to
incorporate teaching about the
United Nations and its role as
an advocate for peace and
better living standards for the
world's people
Teachers can:
- Help students to develop
an understanding of and
appreciation for other
people and other
cultures.
- Prepare students for an
increasingly complex
world.
- Help students prepare to
deal with differences of
opinion and conflict in
constructive, non-violent
ways.

educate about the United Nations:
- Curriculums and lesson plans

introduce students to the UN and many of
the global issues and concerns it
addresses

a variety of features and resources
designed to introduce students to the UN
and it's work.
- Model UN

which students play the role of the delegates
from different countries help participants
understand and respect cultural
differences and provide them with the
skills necessary to work with others to
peacefully resolve conflicts.
- Essay Contest
A nationwide contest that encourages
students to think about America's role in
the world and the United Nations by
preparing and essay on a selected topic.
