Speaker:Dr. Dan W. Figgins In the past decade Dan has made three fact-finding trips to Latin America under the aupices of Witness for Peace, to Guatemala, to Cuba, and—August of 2006—to Venezuela. He will report with photographic images on what he saw and what he learned from group briefings and private conversations with a wide range of Venezuelan groups and the United States Embassy in Caracas. Background:Dan currently teaches in the NCSU School of Public and International Affairs and the Encore program. He has been a member of the Wake County Chapter of the United Nations Association since 1991. Before coming to live in North Carolina he was for 25 years a Foreign Service Officer with the US Department of State.
