UNA/West Triangle invites you to its Lunch and Learn Program

The November Lunch and Learn Will Meet a Week Earlier Than Usual

Theme:

Nuclear Weapons and National Security

Topic:

The November Lunch and Learn meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 17th. It will hear Christopher Paine of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) discuss US National Security Policy After the Election: Is there a Way Out From Endless War?

Based in Washington DC, NRDC is a leading environmental organization, working in such fields as clean air and energy, parks and wildlife, and nuclear weapons and waste. Mr. Paine is a Senior Analyst in its nuclear program.

Long associated with Congressional and public efforts to end nuclear testing and production of weapon-usable nuclear materials, Mr. Paine has served, among other posts, as a staff consultant on nuclear proliferation issues to Senator Kennedy, and to the House of Representatives where he drafted the amendment that initiated the legislative effort that ultimately ended US nuclear test explosions. He was also a member of the first western delegations to visit Soviet nuclear defense installations. A founding member of the National Campaign to Stop the MX Missile and the Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign, he has written extensively on nonproliferation issues.
