L. George Wilson, former Vice Provost for
NCSU Office of International Affairs Professor of Horticultural Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Professional Preparation:
Dr. L. George Wilson received his B.S. in Pomology & Agricultural Economics from Cornell University in 1961, his M.S. degree in Horticulture & Plant Biology from
Washington State University in 1963 and his PhD in Post harvest Horticulture from
Michigan State University in 1969.

Synergistic Activities:
- Forty years of experience in research, technology transfer,
education, extension & engagement and administration, a third of
which was in residence in Spanish speaking Latin American countries.
- Facilitates international experience opportunities and
collaborations for faculty and students, and promotes
internationalization of teaching, research and extension programs.
- Advises and interacts with international students and visiting
scholars: facilitates linkages with international alumni; has traveled
professionally in over 25 countries.
- Encourages global thinking and actions among faculty, students, and
others by promoting and facilitating linkages with international
institution and potential business partners.
- Author of over 260 scientific, technical and popular agriculturally related publications.
- Member of 15 scientific, technical & honorary societies; various distinguished service awards.
- American Society for Horticultural Science: President 2003, Fellow of the Society
- During 1999-2002, assisted in leading the NC State sub-contract of
the USAID Counter narcotics Agricultural Production and Marketing
Project in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Enter the Meredith campus from the Faircloth Road
entrance off Wade Avenue, turn right at the stop sign, and follow the road up the
hill until there are parking places on both sides of the street — the dining
hall will be on your left. If no parking space is open, back track and go left
into the staff parking lot.
