The Wake County Chapter
of the United Nations Association
invites you to our
March 16th,
2005 Program Meeting:
Topic:
Nepal - Country in the Middle
Nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, Nepal
is one of the poorest and least known nations in the world.
Occupying a key "buffer" position between China and India, its democratic but fractious government was recently summarily dismissed by
Nepal's king because of its inability to deeat a brutal decade-long "Maoist" rebellion which has killed some 10,000 people.
Speaker:
Deependra Thapa, a high-level Nepalese civil servent with broad policy making experience, currently a Hubert H. Humphrey fellow at UNC-Chapel Hill,
will discuss the developments of the last decade which are changing the face of his country.
Date and Time
Wednesday, March 16th from noon to 2 p.m.
Place:
The Dogwood Room under the Belk Dining Hall at Meredith College.
Enter the Meredith campus from the Faircloth Road
entrance off Wade Avenue, turn right at the stop sign, and follow the road up the
